Healthcare, Justice and The Prayer House

Healthcare and Justice

I'm not in love with the political system. At least not in the way some people are. I have friends, co-workers and family members who really enjoy talking about and discussing the latest bills and legislation.

However, I am very interested in justice and legislation related to justice. A lot of talk has been going on about the passage of the landmark Healthcare Reform Bill. Now I'm not going to talk to great length on the points I agree or disagree with on this bill. I'm certainly not studied enough to talk on that. However, Charmaine Yoest, president and CEO of Americans United for Life, is.

Yoest had this to say, concerning the Healthcare Reform Bill passage:

"This deal to pass the largest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade is a tragedy for America... The American people do not support taxpayer funding of abortion and Speaker Pelosi and the President have undermined representative democracy by working to pass this legislation..."

The Prayer House

I may not be confident in talking politics, but I am confident in this: When the people of God get together to pray, situations change. Whether we're praying for emotional healing, salvation of the lost or the deliverance of the unborn- I believe God listens and responds when His people pray.

This season of 24-hour prayer will feature nightly corporate prayer gatherings. Each nightly prayer meeting will focus on a specific topic. One of these nights will be focused on the Ending of Abortion.

I'm excited to see students all across our campus uniting on these nights to pray for specific topics, especially for the night where we'll pray for the ending of abortion. Starting March 31st, voices will be lifting up prayers of petition and praise from Danforth Chapel, 24 hours a day, 5 days a week.

I am praying for the people of God to discuss the issues, rise up in action and to pray like never before.
